Khan was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. His father is from Bangladesh and mother was from Kolkata  He was raised by his mother in New Orleans, where she had a series of jobs and businesses. He went to public schools, where, as he recalls, "a few classmates were fresh out of jail and others were bound for top universities". He also holds an MBA from Harvard business school.Salman Khan worked as a hedge fund analyst  before quitting in late 2009.In late 2004, Khan began tutoring his cousin, Nadia, in mathematics over the internet using Yahoo's Doodle notepad. When other relatives and friends sought his tutoring, he decided it would be more practical and beneficial to distribute the tutorials on Youtube where he created an account on 16 November 2006. Their popularity on the video sharing website and the testimonials of appreciative students prompted Khan to quit his job as a hedge analyst in late 2009 to focus on developing his YouTube channel, 'Khan Academy', full-time with the aid of his long time friend Josh Gefner.
His videos attracted on average more than 20,000 hits each. Students from around the world have been attracted to Khan's concise, practical, and relaxed teaching method.
Khan outlined his mission as to "accelerate learning for students of all ages. With this in mind, we want to share our content with whoever may find it useful." Khan also plans to extend his "free school" to cover topics such as English. Programs are being undertaken to use Khan's videos to teach those in isolated areas of Africa and Asia.
THEORY OF Y
KHAN a firm believer of theory Y as its states "A Theory Y manager believes that, given the right conditions, most people will want to do well at work. They believe that the satisfaction of doing a good job is a strong motivation. Many people interpret Theory Y as a positive set of beliefs ".As he left the big cash job to opt for educator to work for educator to society and its learning and managing skills of positive vibes and he firmly believes in every child learning capabilities.

TECHNICAL FORMATS
The Khan Academy started with Khan remotely tutoring one of his cousins interactively using Yahoo Doodle images. Based on feedback from his cousin, additional cousins began to take advantage of the interactive, remote tutoring. In order to make better use of his and their time, Khan transitioned to making YouTube video tutorials. Drawings are now made with a tablet and the free natural drawing application Smooth Draw 3, and recorded with screen capture software from Camtasia studio Khan's audio narratives are recorded with a Samson C03U USB Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone with a miniature desk tripod.
There’s no doubt that the Khan Academy’s videos, narrated enthusiastically by Khan himself, have struck a chord among students and educators as well as the independent learners who make up the majority of the site’s visitors. Users only hear Khan’s voice; he never appears on screen, and he uses neon colors to write on a computer blackboar.
